About the author

I am Michael Man, after obtaining the BSc with Honors in Applied Physics in City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in 1998 and MD of Physics in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2000. I have been working as a research assistant at the LEEM in HKUST and the SPLEEM at the National Center of Electron Microscopy, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory of California. And right now, I am set on pursuing my PhD degree in Physics in HKUST.

My main experience is in the experimental studies of thin film surface structure and growth morphology with low energy electron microscopy / diffraction (LEEM/LEED) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and the study of growth and magnetic structure of ultrathin magnetic film with Spin-Polarized LEEM (SPLEEM). 

I am also good at computer programming, excellent in Visual C++ and fluent at C#, Java, ASP/ASP.net, SQL database, web design and programming.  Two of my main projects are the LEEM/SPLEEM image acquisition and analysis software and this web site.
